3D
scanning.

Non-contact 3D scanning of objects - from spare parts to artistic items. Output STL, OBJ, or STEP for 3D printing, CNC, or reverse engineering.

About the service

What is 3D scanning?

A 3D scanner captures the shape of a physical object and converts it into a digital 3D model. The process is non-contact - the object is measured without damage.

The result is a precise polygon mesh or NURBS model in STL, OBJ, and STEP formats, suitable for 3D printing, CNC milling, and reverse engineering.

We use structured light technology with precision up to ±0.05 mm on smaller objects.

Use cases

When is scanning ideal?

Ideal wherever no drawing or digital model exists, or where the physical object is the source of truth.

Reverse engineering
Spare parts
Missing drawing, damaged part - we scan and produce a replacement or improved version.
Quality control
Deviation measurement
Comparison of scan against CAD model. A color deviation map shows where the part differs from specification.
Culture & art
Object digitization
Sculptures, historical objects, trophies, and personal items - digital copies for archiving or reproduction.
Medicine & orthopedics
Custom aids
Body scanning for production of orthoses, prosthetics, or ergonomic parts tailored to spec.
Design
Foundation for 3D printing
Scanning an existing object as a base for redesign, modification, or short-run production.
Construction
Space documentation
Measurement of rooms, facades, or machinery for reconstruction, adaptation, or construction.

How scanning works

Full process from physical object to usable digital file.

01
Object intake and preparation
Object assessment, optional application of scan spray (for glossy surfaces), and placement of reference markers.
02
Scanning
Shape capture from multiple angles with automatic scan alignment. Larger objects require multiple passes.
03
Postprocessing
Mesh cleaning, hole closing, coordinate alignment, and export to requested format.
04
File delivery
Digital delivery in STL/OBJ/STEP. On request, conversion to a parametric CAD model and additional finishing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What object size can you scan?
+
We scan from a few centimeters upward. Larger parts are handled in sections or on-site; each case is evaluated individually.
What if the object is glossy or transparent?
+
Glossy surfaces are treated with removable scan spray. Transparent objects require a temporary matte coating — we assess case by case.
Will I receive a STEP file for CAD?
+
Polygon mesh (STL/OBJ) is always included. Conversion to parametric STEP is available at extra cost due to manual CAD work.
Do I need to bring the object in person?
+
Smaller objects can be shipped by courier or brought in person to Presov. For larger parts or machinery, we can travel to your location.
