Many customers ask how an order works in practice, especially if they have not had custom manufacturing done before. Here is the process step by step.
1. Enquiry and input files
It is quickest with a 3D model (STL, STEP or OBJ) or a drawing (PDF, DXF). If you only have a physical sample or an idea, that is fine. We can scan the part or model it from your brief. In your enquiry, it helps to state the material (if you know it), the quantity and an approximate deadline.
2. Consultation and proposed solution
We review the input and suggest an approach: technology, material and an indicative price. For more complex orders we often recommend small changes to the model that simplify production or reduce costs without losing function, for example rounding edges for milling or adjusting wall thickness for 3D printing.
3. Production
Once you approve the quotation, the part goes into production. The deadline depends on the technology, scope and quantity, so we agree it for each specific order. We keep you informed about progress.
4. Inspection and handover
We inspect the part before handover. As agreed, you can collect it in person or we can ship it. If it is part of the order, we also supply documentation.
Tip: The clearer the input at the start, the smoother the whole process. If the brief is incomplete, we would rather ask for more information than make changes after production.
How to make the order easier
- state the material and the number of pieces,
- send a model without errors (for example, open geometry in an STL),
- if you are not sure whether the input is correct, send it in advance and we will check it before you confirm the quotation.
